Happenings and Goings-On

Super-Smash-Bros-WiiU

Hi everyone! Long time no post! That’s my fault and I’ll try to be more regular with my posting here. Just wanted to let everyone know what’s been going on here in the YA department of the library.

What I’m Reading: I just started Kick Me by Paul Feig, one of the creators of the TV show Freaks and Geeks and the director of Bridesmaids and The Heat. It’s very funny and painful to read all the embarrassing situations he found himself in growing up. It’ll make you remember all those terrifying instances when you were teased or made fun of but it does so in an inclusive, non-traumatizing way.

What I Just Read: I just finished War Room by Michael Holley because my beloved Patriots are in the off season and I’m jonesing for some football material. A great read and really gives you an insight into how the Patriots prepare not just for football games but for the process of team building.

What’s Going on at the Library:

Tuesday, April 13th: Otaku Guild will be happening from 3pm-5pm down in the Auditorium. Come have fun and watch some anime with fellow teens.

Wednesday, April 14th: Afterschool Movie Matinee – Red Dawn (1984) will be playing in the Auditorium from 4pm-6pm. Popcorn will be available for all! The movie’s description is as follows: It is the dawn of World War III. In mid-western America, a group of teenagers bands together to defend their town, and their country, from invading Soviet forces.

Thursday, April 15th: Open Play Games @ Your Library! from 3:30pm-6:30pm down in the Kay Fox Room. Play video games, board games, card games, whatever your heart desires. If it’s a game you can play it!

Saturday, April 18th: Another Super Smash Bros. Tournament!! The last one was such a success that we’re doing it again! Come by the Kay Fox Room in the basement of the library for this fun Smash Bros. tournament from 1pm-5pm. Be here by 1:30pm to register. Prizes, refreshments, and snacks will be provided!
